Camping Baby

Laine went on her first camping trip this weekend. I think she was trying to determine if she liked it or not because she had a very serious, yet inquisitive, look on her face for most of the weekend.

It got quite cold at night and we had to put Laine in footed fuzzy sleepwear, wrap her up like a burrito, put her in her car seat, put a cloth diaper on her head with an oversized hat over that, and then put a blanket over the car seat to form a cocoon. This was because our original plan of co-sleeping failed miserably. Laine has no interest being in our bed, on our tummies, or in our arms at night. As a general rule, she also has no interest in covers either! Hence, the Laine-cocoon-burrito tactic.

Al & I could cuddle up to each other and keep our heads in the sleeping bag for warmth. However, pumping at midnight and 6 AM was horrible! So cold! Also, Laine was not only unhappy from being rolled up like a burrito, she was also having gastro-issues both nights. (This morning at 5:30 she managed to have a blow-out all the way up to the back of her neck. Impressive!) Because of this, we had to be out of our sleeping bags for several hours. Both nights also required taking her into the car so that she/we would not disturb KB, Emily, or the other campers.

We did manage to have great time though. We saw Anna Ruby Falls. Laine seemed unimpressed, but thought that sticking her hands in Daddy’s mouth was absolutely hilarious.

Pictures of the weekend can be found on our Shutterfly account. (You will need to go to the Friends tab to see them. They are not under the Baby tab.)
